Konrad & Allan from Archives

Konrad Krahn and Allan Neyedly work together preserving the City Archives. Konrad is the City Archivist and Allan is a Senior Archivist and Records Manager. While managing the archival collection, they are actively involved in the current restoration of the Carnegie Library. Built as Winnipeg’s first public library in 1905, the building was home to the City Archives until flooding forced them out in 2013. The restoration has dug up lost stories about the building and the people who lived and worked there. Over the years, former staff have shared stories about their experiences. Some have heard footsteps and unusual sounds. Some have felt cold spots or seen moving curtains. They had that feeling that someone was watching. Konrad and Allan look at these accounts from different points of view. One through research and historical records. The other with curiosity about the stories passed down by staff. This episode is a chance to discover the history, folklore, and restoration of the Carnegie Library. It is scheduled to re-open to the public in a year from now.
